When architects and builders evaluate an exterior material, the conversation shouldn’t stop at appearance.
What’s behind it? How does the assembly go together? What role does each component play?
Those questions matter because EverLog can be incorporated into a project in different ways depending on the structure, design goals, and performance requirements.
The key is determining the right system early.
EverLog + ICF: Different Jobs. One Wall.
One application pairs EverLog Concrete Log Siding with Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction.
In this type of assembly, the systems serve different purposes. The ICF forms the structural, insulated wall, while EverLog Siding provides the dimensional log exterior.
For architects, builders, and owners who want the benefits of an ICF wall system without sacrificing the character of log architecture, the two can work together in a thoughtfully designed assembly.
Siding or Structural EverLogs?
This is one of the most important distinctions to make early in the design process.
EverLog Siding is a concrete exterior siding system installed over a separate structural wall assembly. It allows projects using ICF, conventional framing, and other compatible wall systems to incorporate the texture and dimension of log construction.
Structural EverLogs take a different approach. These insulated concrete logs become part of the wall system itself, combining the log profile with a structural concrete system.
EverLog Concrete Timbers provide another option for incorporating timber-style architectural elements into a project.
Which solution makes sense depends on the project.
That’s why we encourage design teams to start with the application rather than simply choosing a profile or color.
Planning your own build? Bring these questions to your first design meeting.
The easiest time to get your exterior right is before anything is drawn.
These questions help you and your builder or architect make decisions now that are hard to change later. Good builders welcome them.
What wall system are we using, and what exterior finishes work with it? Framed walls, SIPs, and ICF all accept concrete log siding. If you want the logs to be the wall, structural concrete logs are a different path and need to be chosen early.
How will the windows and doors be trimmed? Log-style siding sits proud of the wall, so the trim has to extend past it. It's a small detail that's much easier to plan on paper than to fix on site.
Which log profile fits the design, and does it need chinking? Some profiles require chinking, some make it optional, and some need none. That choice affects the look, the schedule, and which trades are involved.
What fire ratings do our exterior materials carry, and what does our location call for? This matters most if you're building in or near wildfire country. Ask your insurer early too, since material choices can affect your coverage.
When do materials need to be ordered to stay on schedule? EverLog products are made to order for each project, so lead time belongs in the plan from the start.
